“I. Excuse Examination

  1. A) Excuses about Health

1) Medical Reports (Amended with the Senate Decree dated 30/04/2013 and no. 360/3053) All medical reports stated below are accepted after evaluation and approval by the board of directors of the related academic unit in terms of conformity to scientific and administrative procedures. In case of uncertainty, hospitals of our university’s Faculty of Medicine act as arbitration board.

  1. Medical reports issued by the polyclinics of Health, Culture and Sports Department for foreign students, and
  2. Approved medical reports issued by University and Ministry of Health Hospitals which they visit via the Social Security Organizations they are affiliated to, and by foundation universities with the title of public corporate entity shall be evaluated.
  3. Fatal Disease or Death of Close Relatives:

If the students documents that s/he could not take an exam because of a fatal disease or death of the spouse, mother, father, child or sibling of the student, the student is given the right for an excuse examination upon approval by the related board of directors.

A right for an excuse examination is given for the following cases:

  1. B) Natural Disasters

If the student could not take an exam due to a natural disaster on condition that it is confirmed by the highest level of civilian authority of the region,

  1. C)Imprisonment

In the case of imprisonment that does not remove the student’s studentship status or require the break off of the student as required by the disciplinary regulations,

  1. D) Sports and Cultural Activities

Periods when students participate in sports and cultural activities to represent their country, university or faculty/college including the travel time,

  1. E) Miscellaneous

Other conditions that will be accepted as an excuse by the faculty/college board of directors and approved by the board of directors of the university.

  1. Suspension in Education:
  2. A)   Suspension in Education

In the cases stated below, the students are allowed to suspend their education according to the decision by Council of Higher Education as per Clause 3 of paragraph d (2) of Article 7 of the Law No. 2547:

  1. B)   Natural Disasters

The student has to suspend education due to a natural disaster on condition that it is confirmed by the highest level of civilian authority of the region,

  1. C)   Fatal Diseases of Close Relatives

If the students documents that s/he has to suspend education because of a fatal disease or death of the spouse, mother, father, child or sibling of the student, and there is no one else to take care of the ill,

  1. D) Financial Reasons

At the beginning of each term, the student applies for suspension of education due to financial reasons on condition that s/he applies within seven workdays,

  1. E) Imprisonment

In the case of imprisonment that does not remove the student’s studentship status or require the break off of the student as required by the disciplinary regulations,

  1. F) Military Service

Student’s being enrolled in military service due to the loss of the postponement right or the cancellation of the postponement,

  1. G) Assignment and Appointment

Assignment or appointment of students who are soldiers or have formal civilian appointment to a place other than where the faculty or college is located by the organizations they are affiliated to,

  1. H) Sports and Cultural Activities

Periods when students participate in sports and cultural activities to represent their country, university or faculty/college including the travel time,

  1. I) Miscellaneous

Other conditions that will be accepted as an excuse by the faculty/college board of directors and approved by the board of directors of the university.

III. Period of Application

Students are required to submit a petition to the related deanery or college directorate for the period when they had a medical report within 5 (five) workdays at the latest in order to be able to take the excuse examination. Those who do not apply within the stated period shall not be given an excuse examination.

Faculty/college board of directors decide whether or not to accept the medical reports received. In the case of uncertainty, the case may be evaluated by Ankara University Faculty of Medicine hospitals or by the university board of directors.
